My First Rhyme

This post is called first rhymes although its not neccessarily about anyone’s actual first rhyme. this post is about the first few lines of the songs which laid the fondation for who we would become as emcees. I’m sure there will be some disagreements and if there are call me email me or comment and lets discuss it.

Coop Dejabello -Da Fatman

I know many will probably think this should have been Next Level, but I feel like this is the song that opened the door for Next Level. This is the song that made people wanna hear Next Level the song where coop mastered his style.

the mic vandal, that nigga headlines all scandals,
opposing me and waymon watch your neighborhood be holding up litted candles
for your memory,
i told you that nigga shouldnt been fukin with me,
thats what happen when you f’ wit the mic phenomenon
laughing over your lyrical death drinking sprite and citron,
just like ideal you just got gone.

Soul Reaver -Swing Swords

I know Soul Reaver won’t like this one. But what can I say? Who hasn’t made a metaphor about Shon swinging a sword and slaying an emcee, I know I have. The addictive hook, the witty metaphors, this one is undeniable. Okay, now everybody say it with me. . .

I swing swords while i rock this , you can stop this, emcees wanna cop this
protect like the army brigade and without a doubt, i swing the fastest blade
emcees that challenge my throne i must devour
ya’ll niggaz need to wake up quick and take a cold shower.
weigh your options if you plan to stay here
i put the temps down low, i make the changes in this atmosphere

Dr Looney McGurt -This Makes me Looney

This is the song that turned Red into Dr. Looney McGurt. This descriptive, poetic song garnered everyone’s respect as well as their pity. For about 4 minutes we could all walk in his shoes and know exactly how it feels to be Looney.

now there’s too much shit that makes me looney so i’ma explain it the best i can
so let it enter you from your ear canal and hit you from the heart of this looney man
i can remember being a child and saying i wanna go home
and my mother would say you are and try to make it well known
but somedays it sure doesnt feel like it i must admit
damned evil ass emotions keep creeping in and won’t stop for sh*t

CMB -Executioner Style

An obvious choice of course, Executioner Style was actually CMB’s first Dimitron song. This song introduced everyone to CMB’s battle-ready flow, his alter ego Exodus, and was the first of the quadrilogy.

deadly my thirst, looking through the eyes of a predator
the definitiater changes forms no longer a player
lyrical murder, cash money brother stealing dollars like a burglar
if you such a big willy why haven’t i heard of ya
f- freestyles and street brawls mix’em all
we can have a free for all get off my balls

C-U-R-T -Game of Life

“Living for the Weekend” or even the verse on “Still F’n the Props” may come to mind. But this song really defined C-U-R-T’s contradictive flow. His uncanny ability to talk sh*t while at the same time deliver a message about getting your life right.

niggas be bullshitting on the block,
fellas sitting around like they on the dock
this aint the bay, i evented all the shit around the way
niggaz gonna have to give me my credit, before i delete and debit,
f’ you, there i said it
while the be smoking and drinking, it got me thinking
i want more than my respect due,
either you giving or i’m taking from you, sorry boo

Bruce Bowman -Jay the Great

I know when we hear Bruce Bowman we think of “Get This Money”, ” Brand New Life” and “Destiny.” But, like I said this post isn’t about our favorite songs it’s about those coming of age verses and that honor goes to “Jay the Great.” This song let everyone know that Jay was actually really great.

Uh Oh, niggaz better run now,
cause once i come out destined for greatness
off of thought ejaculations.
Stay outta site like jehova, ya’ll niggaz know the
scheme. tek zero’d up beam
from infared, keeping my head
smoke circulating, hoes heard the jason.
he probablly balling now,
all in my business about who he fukun who he wit
i do the shit
niggaz envy on, donna karen spilling henny on

the littleguy -Winter in America

This song became the title track to the littleguy’s first LP and this theme of seasons became a staple in all four of his subsequent albums. Using smart metaphors to deliver a message this is where the littleguy first began his search for a better day.

in this cold place i cope by putting on a sweater
when i try to do my best people only want it better
its 98 ya’ll and i’m bout to catch 22
should i try to make money where my heart ain’t true
well making money’ll make you happy is what that hand to me
but i’ll probally wind up doing what best for the family

Wingzero -Understand it’s understood

This song isn’t just important to DiMiTRON this song was pivotal in Wingzero’s life. Here is where Wingzero became a story teller. A diss song on the surface it also serves as therapy for anyone who needs to or has just gotten out of a bad situation. Here is where Wingzero got that writing bug which led to two novels with many more on the way.

mentally i come on the mic, like i’m rhyming on cue
lyrics so sick niggas think they catching the flu
lyrically I come with too much style, i rhyme for miles
talk so much shit you’d have to put it in piles
i can already, see niggazz dont wanna come straight
knock that ass down you waiting at them pearly gates
this song is personal to me it’s all about revenge
still so stressed a nigga stay on a drinking binge
